Raising Funds & Awareness for Motor Neuron Disease
KLF will be providing free insurance cover for “CyclingforBryan”, a team of brave cyclist who will cycle approximately 80 miles through Shropshire, starting at Ackley Farm, near Welshpool and concluding the Tour de Shropshire at Whiston Farm, Ford. A charity close to the heart of KLF, we are delighted to be supporting a campaign to raise money for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
In June 2014, Bryan Challenor, a cousin and valued friend of Keith Fowles, Managing Director of KLF Insurance Brokers, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease. The hardest part of this diagnosis was that no doctor or specialist could explain how you develop this disease and they cannot offer any treatment either, because there isn’t any.
The news was devastating for Bryan and his wide network of family and friends. In an attempt to raise valuable funds for the MND charity and raise awareness of the disease CyclingforBryan was established. During the first two weeks of May 2015, seven friends cycled over 1,000 miles from John O Groats to Lands End, raising over £86,000 for the charity. Since then the charity has raised over £102,000 for the MND Association.
Keith Fowles, Managing Director of KLF Insurance, commented: “We wholeheartedly support this fantastic cycling challenge for Bryan and commend every single cyclist and team member who is making this challenge possible to help raise money for MND.”
Catherine Evans, Bryan’s Daughter & CyclingforBryan Team Leader said: “For anyone who wants to take part in the challenge to raise money for this wonderful association, we will be so very grateful! We hope that with the money raised one day doctors will know WHY you get this disease and find a CURE for it. Thank you so much for your support.”
